| There has been a mover in Panama by the name of Rene Perez doing business under various company names, including Panama International Movers.
This is not to be confused with the reputable and successful mover called Panama International Packers owned by Caridad.
There is an article in the yahoo group viviendo_en_panama with a link to a couples' horror story with using Rene Perez and his moving company. I have also asked them to submit the report to yahoo groups panama_bad_apples and panamafraud.
Another friend had used Rene Perez 3 years ago when his company was under a different name and had the same experience with things damaged, broken, and missing. He also held their stuff hostage and demanded more money then was agreed upon in the written contract!!
We had a great move with Panama International Packers 4+ years ago--very professional on both ends of our move. We had 317 items on our manifest and we received 317 items in our door-to-door move with nothing broken, damaged or missing.
UPDATE - Canal Logistics
Friends are getting the run around from them now trying to charge them extra to bring their stuff to Coronado. Their contract is for door-to-door.
Also they are trying to charge them extra for fumigation--which is included in the original quotation.
NEVER pay for your move until you have received your stuff. Also the seal on the container should only be removed by you at your home if you have door-to-door. The customs agent should come to your home no charge because it is included in the door-to-door service. ALWAYS make sure it is spelled out in your contract!!
