National Orchid of Panama |  APROVACA is the Association of Orchid Producers from El Valle and Cabuya for the conservation of orchids. They are located just past the school as you are coming into El Valle on the left--look for the signs.
They are a non-profit organization and are currently being subsidized by Taiwan and Japan. They cultivate endangered endemic species in their nurseries, reproducing them from the mother plants. They do NOT sell the endangered species, but do sell non-endangered orchids.

Educacion Primero & Keen Footwear |  Keen Footwear(www.keenfootwear.com) came to us after hearing about our mats and bags from recycled plastic. Keen also incorporates recycled material in some of their products.
Attached is their Central American representative holding a mat with their logo, made by our industrious mothers. The mothers also make all kinds of hand bags, purses, and mats. Items for sale can be found at XS Memories Sports Bar & Restaurant in Santa Clara.

| Allergic Reactions & PANAMA
People with major reactions, especially to bee stings, shell fish, or nuts, should always have an Epi-pen available.
A simple bee sting can be life threatening here in PANAMA due to the distances between health care clinics, etc. If you have any allergies, especially to insects in PANAMA, don't take the chance of developing anaphylactic shock.
Recently, a new arrival died of anaphylactic shock because there was not enough time to get her to a local clinic/hospital. |

The room was full of pregnant women with their partners. The Lamaze instructor was teaching the women how to breathe properly and was telling the men how to give the necessary assurance to their partners at this stage of the pregnancy.
She said "Ladies, remember that exercise is good for you. Walking is especially beneficial. It strengthens the pelvic muscles and will make delivery that much easier!"
She looked at the men in the room, "and gentlemen, remember - you're in this together. It wouldn't hurt you to go walking with her."
The room suddenly got very quiet as the men absorbed this information. Then a man at the back of the room slowly raised his hand.
"Yes?" answered the teacher.
"I was just wondering, is it alright if she carries a golf bag while we walk ?" |
